AMPED I is designing a new relay protection scheme for a major city mass transit company. 9 new panels will be installed at three of their substations. The current substations are fed from two electric utility lines that feed through to other distribution. The project will eliminate the transit company’s ability to feed through their substations. AMPED I’s technical role in this design includes:
• New relay scheme
• New cabinet door design
• Relay settings
• Development of testing procedures
• SCADA
• Document Management
The elimination of the ability to feed through will allow the electric utility to add mid circuit reclosing on the distribution lines to the substations. The new relay protection scheme will give the substations an automatic main-tie-main transfer, which will reduce outage time to the substation.
Our services for this project began in July of 2014 and should be completed by early 2015.
